Mondays at Noon - Weekday Adult Education
Sharon Stricker will be teaching a class on Spirituality and the Twelve Steps from the book Breathing Under Water by Richard Rohr. This class is valuable to everyone, so please come join us!
Wednesday's 11:00 a.m. - Lectionary Class
Fr. Rob will lead this class as we ‘read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest’ the lessons (the Lectionary) for the upcoming Sunday. You may bring your Bibles; the readings will also be provided. Even if you have never been to a Bible Study, don’t worry. This class will be informal discussions, and you will find that it greatly enriches your Sunday worship.
Thursday's 10:00 a.m. - Men and Women's Bible Study
May 3 – July 5
For the first part of the summer, our men and women’s study groups will join together to study Beyond the Edge by the Rev. Andrew Mayes, who was our wonderful spiritual guide on the recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
In his book, Fr. Andrew reminds us that in responding to Jesus’ summons, we find ourselves leaving familiar certainties and securities behind as we step out boldly in faith. Old boundaries dissolve as we are led into liminal spaces - exhilarating situations, new places of discovery and radical spiritual growth. In such experiences Christ reveals himself to us anew. The place of risk is the threshold of the divine.
Each week, we will review a chapter with the help of different pilgrims from the pilgrimage. Books are $20 at the church or on Amazon (Kindle or paperback editions). Drop in as you can, or come to every class.
The Revd Canon Andrew Mayes recently served as Adviser for Spirituality and a parish priest in the Diocese of Chichester. He lived in Jerusalem for some years, and he recently accepted a call to the church in Cyprus. You will love his depth and his insights. Come and see for yourself.
Coming in July and August, Men's Bible Study
Thursdays at 9 am
A Bible Study on The Acts of the Apostles, led by Doug Bischoff
Beginning July 12, 2018 and ending on (approx.) August 29, 3018 will focus on the thirty year period from the ascension of Jesus Christ to the end of Paul’s travels in Rome. The author is clear that the incredible success of the early church was not the product of human efforts alone but was directed by divine agency.
The book might have been titled "The Acts of the Holy Spirit." He will follow Peter, Paul and the "magnificent seven" as they take the early church from a religion of Jesus to a religion about Jesus. No reading or previous knowledge required.
