What is An Agapé Meal?
- An Agapé Meal is a simple, shared meal among Christians that celebrates Christian love and fellowship. In the Episcopal Church, it is usually:
- Informal and prayerful
- Centered on scripture and thanksgiving
- Separate from the Eucharist (it is not Holy Communion)
- Focused on community, unity, and Christ’s love
- The word Agapé is a Greek word meaning self-giving, unconditional love — the kind of love Christians believe God shows to the world.
- In short: An Agapé Meal is a simple meal shared in gratitude and love, reminding us that we belong to Christ and to one another.
