A Letter from Rev. Wood
Dear Members and Friends of Good Shepherd, On many Sundays, the offertory sentence is “Walk in Love as Christ loved us.”Those words posit generosity and self-giving in ways that match our mission statement: to reflect God’s love through our faith in action. This summer and as we look ahead to 2025, we will devote time to engaging more deeply in our walk with Christ, in Christ’s love. As we experienced on the recent pilgrimage, we are companion walkers at all times as we navigate life every day—its ups and downs, its joys, its opportunities. The theme for 2025 Stewardship Campaign is Walk in Love, and it calls us to remember that our greatest gift in community is how we align, come together in purpose and mission. When we walk in the same direction, with Christ in love, we grow. |
I am inspired by our growth in Christ in recent years. I witness the way the Pastoral Care team ministers to those in need in our parish family. I see our ELL volunteers building bridges as they walk in love with students and their families. I experience people wholeheartedly embracing the Bazaar Barn, donating, volunteering, and coming to worship as a result of how the Barn light shines.
So we circle back to worship: praising, praying, offering—walking in love. Those words are an invitation to make an offering--not out of a sense that we will get back when we give, but because we are motivated by love—the love Christ our shepherd shares with us.
I ask your prayerful consideration of how you will walk in love with us at Good Shepherd in 2025. Yes, this means your pledge to our mission and ministry, but it also means yourself, walking with Christ. Discuss and pray with the people in your household how God is calling you to share your gifts and walk in love. Consider the many people who have walked with you in love, supported you in your faith, and shared their gifts with you.
Maybe 2025 is the year to make a pledge for the first time. Maybe you can increase your pledge? Whatever you decide, please let us know by July 31, and know that our walking together with Christ will be in love and gratitude.
Walking with you in Love,
The Rev. Rob Wood
