A Letter from Rev. Wood
Dear Good Shepherd Family,
I am inspired – so inspired by you. When I look around Good Shepherd and observe all that is happening, I can easily see God’s abundant work among us. We have a church full of generous, loving, creative people who find new ways to seek and serve Christ in all people.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, served God in fullness too. She tells us of her encounter with the Divine who informs her that she will bear a child who will change the world. In her joy, she proclaims: “Tell out my soul the Greatness of the Lord!” (We sing a hymn with that first verse!)
The Good News that fills our spirits with joy is about God’s greatness and God’s abundant, abiding love. Our souls know the power of faith and love that Jesus conceives within us as we respond to his call to follow him. Are we, like Mary, ready to burst forth in proclamation?
All stewardship efforts are a form a proclamation. And at Good Shepherd our 2026 Stewardship efforts focus on our daily chance to proclaim and serve. The stories we tell, the drive to share, and the calls to proclaim “tell out” our faith and actions of soul.
For sure, your 2026 Stewardship Pledge to the operating budget covers basic expenses like utilities, salaries, and landscaping. Your pledge also supports programs like our highly successful children's Art Camp, our growing Music Ministry, and our ever-growing Pastoral Care Ministry. For more than 130 years, the people of Good Shepherd have been telling out the goodness of God in myriad ways—and this year will be no exception.
With this letter we invite you to make your annual Stewardship Pledge for 2026. Before you fill it out, whether online or on paper, I ask your prayerful consideration to discern with your household how God is calling you to “tell out your soul.” Is this the year you can increase your pledge? If you have not pledged previously, is this the year to begin? We ask you to return your pledge by August 31—in the mail, in the offering plate, or online. Join us in telling out the Greatness of the Lord!
