Mission

We acknowledge our church community’s strengths and weaknesses, and are blessed with a beautiful and historic place in which to worship. We are committed to living and sharing the type of life that Christ commands:

To reflect God’s love through our faith in action!

After a 6 month process earlier this year the Vestry adopted a new mission statement last month:

“To reflect God’s love through our Faith in Action”

In order to live into this mission, we plan to have table conversations at our Parish meeting next Wednesday, Oct 2 (5:00) focused on what God is calling us to do or become over the next 5 or so years.

In preparation for this we ask that you each give this some prayerful thought and come to the Parish meeting prepared to share your ideas and to listen to others as they share theirs.

To help you prepare, here are a few examples of “desired outcomes” that have been mentioned in our process thus far. Some of these may build on what we’re already doing and others may be new.
  • a healthy Youth program (including a nursery) that helps youth and families in their walk with God

  • a congregation that reflects the demographics of our community

  • a variety of worship services and ministries that inspire and nourish our life in Christ

  • programs and events that bring us all into a closer relationship with God and with one another

  • a congregation focused on connecting with and caring for people - each other, those in our community, and those beyond

  • Outreach ministries that involve many parishioners and that meet the growing needs in our community

  • a vibrant music program which enhances our spirituality

  • an emphasis on spiritual enrichment and discovering and using our spiritual gifts

  • an active ministry of parishioners who invite, welcome and connect people into our church family

  • a staff that supports our people and our mission

  • beautiful, welcoming, holy grounds that honor God and our history and that support our mission

If you are unable to come to the Parish meeting, we invite you to send in your ideas to Ellen by email.

Sincerely,

Rob, Irv & the Vestry
