DAUGHTERS OF THE KING
The DOK is a religious order of women who take lifelong vows to live by the rules of the order. Because of our vow, we refer to ourselves as an order, not an organization. Our lifetime vow requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service and evangelism. We wear crosses as an outward and visible sign that we can do nothing without Christ in our lives.
The DOK chapter at Good Shepherd was established in 1997 with 5 Daughters. Currently the chapter has 31 Daughters, including 3 new Daughters this year. Classes for prospective Daughters are held periodically. If you are interested in becoming a Daughter, call Becky Greene or ask any other Daughter for information. They are the ones wearing the distinctive Greek Fleury cross. We meet each month to enjoy food and fellowship, to discuss any business of the chapter, prayer requests and a short program.
We pray daily for our clergy and the spiritual growth of our parish. We pray for God’s blessing upon the order and upon those sick in body, mind and spirit. We host receptions after memorial services, coordinate meals for the home-bound, furnish transportation, send cards and make phone calls and other duties as requested by our Pastor.
