Volunteer Ministry
In God’s service, we often give (volunteer) our time. Volunteering is therefore an integral part of our life together at Good Shepherd. It is part of the way we transform church attendees into church members and transform church members into church family! Volunteering is one way we reflect God’s love through faith in action!
Good Shepherd’s newly created Volunteer Ministry will be responsible for the development, inauguration and oversight of a centrally-managed volunteer program. We have recently begun the work to provide compile comprehensive list of all opportunities that we have available at here Good Shepherd. We would like to provide something for everyone and we have seen that we have a very service driven congregation and would like for everyone to be apart of giving time.

Who We Are |
With all that is happening at The Church of the Good Shepherd, it was suggested that the volunteer opportunities be organized and structured under a new Volunteer Ministry. Chairs Julia Boeve and Rose Mary Achey have been working to gather and organize the information about the various ministries at Good Shepherd. Julia Boeve and her husband Tim have been in Cashiers now for about 12 years. They have two sons, Will (10) and John (7). She spends much of her time “being a mom” and volunteering when she can in the community. She is also very active at Summit Charter School. We love Cashiers and love being a part of the Good Shepherd community. She grew up in an Episcopal Church and feel right at home here. Rose Mary Achey relocated to Cashiers from Charlotte, NC in 2015 after spending every holiday and summers in our beautiful mountains. Rose Mary and her husband Herb have two children, Maggie (29) and Patrick (27). Keeping honeybees has become a passion during retirement. Before retiring Rose Mary was a Marketing professor and served as a Nonprofit Executive Director.
