In June, Suzie Sinclair and I attended the 2019 Invite Welcome Connect Summit at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. The following paragraphs are taken from Mary Parmer’s book Invite Welcome Connect.
“Invite Welcome Connect is a ministry of transformation that equips and empowers congregations and individuals to cultivate intentional practices of evangelism, hospitality, and connectedness rooted in the gospel directive to “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19). The work accommodates congregations of all sizes and socioeconomic situations. The assessment tools, surveys, checklists, and other materials are designed to be adapted based on the interests and needs of a particular locale.”
“The Invite Welcome Connect ministry is a theological and practical initiative, which goes beyond making ‘The Episcopal Church Welcomes You’ a reality, but also ensures those who do come to faith in our churches do not leave by the back door. It provides a theological rationale for outreach to the spiritually hungry, a means of engaging those who come into our places of worship, and a way to engage those who become a part of our community of faith.”
We are hosting an informational wine & cheese get-together on Monday, January 27th at 5:30 PM in Hines Hall. All current greeters are invited, as well as those who have turned in Time and Talent cards expressing an interest in the ministries of greeting and hospitality.
We hope you will come, learn and join the Invite Welcome Connect Team!
With this ministry we will strive to welcome all who are thinking about making Good Shepherd their church home. Please RSVP to Ellen at 743-2359 or goodshepadmin@frontier.com.
If you cannot attend, but are interested in learning more about Invite Welcome Connect, please call Doreen at 706-831-1156 or Suzie at 828-342-0954.
