WAYS TO SERVE

Ushers 
Greeter w
armly welcome parishioners and visitors to worship services. They escort them to seating, collect the offering, direct the orderly flow to the altar during communion, help in emergencies, and assist the clergy in identifying newcomers and visitors. People are welcome to join this ministry. Volunteers will be trained, will have guidelines available, and will be assigned to various services. Teams of 2 are assigned for the Sunday services.

Greeters 
S
aying “Good morning” before church services and during coffee hours, this rotating group of volunteers, both individuals and families, serves to welcome newcomers and parishioners to Good Shepherd.

Eucharistic Minister
Eucharistic Ministers are lay persons who assist in worship at all our services by serving the chalice of consecrated wine during communion. Newcomers are always welcome with individual or group training available.

Crucifer/Acolyte 
Youth: Boys and girls in grades four through college are welcome to participate in this sacramental ministry by serving as crucifers and bearing torches, banners, and flags.
Adults: Good Shepherd also has a team of adult acolytes who serve on Sundays, as well as Thursday Healing Eucharists, saints’ days, funerals, and other events.
Youth or adult, newcomers are always welcome with individual or group training available.

Lectors 
Lectors are lay persons who assist in worship at all our services by reading the appointed lessons and offering the Prayers of the People. Normally two lectors are assigned per service. Lector 1 reads the Old Testament Lesson and the Psalm and Lector 2 reads the New Testament Lesson and the Prayers of the People.
